Kati Moulton is Serving Eureka
When my husband and I bought our first and only home near Highland Park, we had to ask ourselves, “Is this a good neighborhood where we can raise our son?” The answer is yes and no. It was a big decision for us, since we’d been saving for years, and we were only going to get one shot at buying our own home. We love this neighborhood though. We’ve lived here since 2007 except the two and a half years we moved in with family in Myrtletown to save money for our down payment.
In the 2nd Ward there are hardworking people, struggling families, inspiring networks of support, and heartbreaking stories of what can happen when those support networks break down and desperation takes hold.
As the Second Ward’s representative on the Eureka City Council, I work to help bring out the best in our community with compassion, creative solutions, and open communication.
Have a look at My First Term accomplishments for more about my work on City Council.
I am a community leader, mentor, Kinetic sculpture racer (Kati Texas), Rutabaga Queen (Lotta Paintbuckets), a small business person, mother, and home owner. My family and I have deep roots here, and we want to see Eureka thrive! Here’s a little more about my personal history and professional work outside of Council…
As the former artistic director of the Ink People Center for the Arts, I have worked with the City of Eureka to incorporate the arts into the strategic plan, and consulted for dozens of small local arts businesses. The Ink People brings grant and sponsorship money in from out of the area to invest it in the future of Eureka.
As the president of Kinetic Universe, I have worked with local and state agencies and municipalities to make sure Humboldt’s largest free community arts event is safe, sustainable, and a benefit to the whole community. We bring tens of thousands of visitors and millions of dollars to Humboldt every year. That’s a real economic benefit from an event rooted in family fun, art, our beautiful environment, and of course GLORY!
For years, I have worked to serve my community. As a mentor, and program manager, I've helped to foster the next generation of local leaders, uplifting and empowering at risk youth to meet their full potential. I've worked hard to keep those kids and families from falling through the cracks, and I hope to continue doing that for the people of the 2nd Ward.
